Waterlillies

I love this time of year when the sun is lower in the sky and the water reflections take center stage. This piece is currently at Art Sales and Rental Gallery

I put down my brushes and paint and picked up my needle and thread to create this brooch bouquet for my niece's wedding. It is made from antique brooches and all the flowers are hand made from silk and organza. I really enjoy stepping outside my fine art box to create other items.

Wisteria

This piece was about texture and color. There is a lot of relief in the waterfall effect of the wisteria and I am pleased with the quality of the purples and neutrals.
This piece is at Art Sales and Rental and available for rent or purchase.

Magenta Mood

SOLD Another loose floral. I am working at being freer and more expressive and of course color harmony is still a preoccupation. It has now sold, thank you Hydrostone Gallery!

Orient

SOLD This is an exploration in surface texture again, it is built on a gold leaf base with a red crackle finish in portions. Using a heavier black line for emphasis is something I am playing with. This is quite big at 30x40. It is available at Art Sales and Rental in Halifax.

The Black Market is a Halifax institution. They sell a myriad of colorful items that appeal to every age group but especially college kids. I caught it one night as the sun was going down and it was glowing from within.
This painting is now at Art Sales and Rental Gallery

Hollyhocks

SOLD***This is a painting I did after I participated in Paint The Town Mahone Bay. The hollyhocks throughout the town were in full glory so I tried to capture one grouping. This painting was accepted for the group show at Art Sales and Rental and is available now for rent or purchase.

Show at the Hydrostone Callery

Hydrostone Gallery
fa·mil·iar
Louise Baker, Sarah O'Malley, Justine Kerr, Megan McMullin, and Jake Seibert.
November 19th, 2009 to January 3rd, 2010
Opening Reception: Thursday November 19th from 7 to 9pm

This seasonal group show, fa·mil·iar fuses the work of five artists set out to explore the strong bonds of family and home.  Though we are all born into a family, we choose those people who remain near and dear. Tight kinship is always the clearest guidance, and inspiration is drawn from those people and places we hold close.
With vibrant oil paintings, small stone sculptures, and pastoral photography, fa·mil·iar will keep the home fires burning for the New Year ahead of us.

Town Clock at Dusk

SOLD*** I try to capture what might be considered touristy images in a unique way. This is the Town Clock in Halifax just as the sun was setting.

Wine

SOLD This is a group of wine bottles that I set up with back lighting. The colors through the wine were a lot of fun to paint.
